Nothing is official yet, but it looks like the UFC’s thinking about having CM Punk fight Mike Jackson, at the promotion’s June 9th card in Chicago.

According to a report from MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, multiple sources say discussions have begun, in terms of having Punk fight Jackson at UFC 225. Jackson, like Punk, has fought just one time in pro MMA, and like the latter, he was defeated by Mickey Gall.

Jackson’s loss to Gall took place in February, 2016, and Punk’s went down in September of that year. Gall won both bouts via first round, rear-naked-choke.

So, it remains to be seen if this in fact happens, but it wouldn’t be surprising at all if it does. Punk resides in Chicago, and there’s no doubt his presence on the card would drive ticket sales and pay-per-view buys.

The former pro-wrestling star made his UFC debut at UFC 203, and that card is believed to have sold over 400,000 PPV buys. Punk’s bout is almost certainly a big reason why.
