Talk about Floyd Mayweather moving into MMA continues, but recently, it’s been featuring a bit of a new wrinkle…

Now since the undefeated boxer and Conor McGregor continue to trade verbal shots, regarding a rematch in the Octagon, obviously, there’s still a lot of buzz about that fight. But, because the consensus is that McGregor would crush Mayweather in a MMA scrap, some have wondered if the latter should fight say, someone with less experience…enter CM Punk.

More from MMA Frenzy

On a recent episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, the commentator had this to say about Mayweather’s chances against McGregor and CM Punk (quote via MMA Junkie):

“Whatever the (expletive) odds Vegas puts on (a McGregor vs. Mayweather MMA fight), that’s cute,” Rogan said. “If it’s 10-1, 100-1, I bet it’s going to be like 900-1. Something crazy. ‘Buster’ Douglas was only 42-1 (against Mike Tyson). If they’re smart, because Conor’s going to kick his legs out – he’s not even going to have a chance to come close enough. Conor’s going to kick his (expletive) legs out; he doesn’t have any chance. Then if he decides to shoot in and clinch, he’s going to clinch and he’s going to rag doll him.”

“Listen, if this fight takes place, Floyd doesn’t have a chance. (Against CM Punk), Floyd’s got a real chance.”

From a matchmaking perspective, Mayweather – CM Punk would make a lot more sense no? And, it would still sell a ton of pay-per-views…The UFC could also move forward with having McGregor fight the winner of Tony Ferguson – Khabib Nurmagomedov.
