If you’ve been tossing out an “enough already” each time you read and or hear something about Conor McGregor fighting Floyd Mayweather in the cage, then this news might bode well for you.
Recently Mayweather has been teasing that he’s thinking about moving into MMA, and he’s even hinted (trolled) that he wants to fight McGregor in the Octagon. Prior to their boxing match last summer, the decorated boxer claimed that he would battle McGregor in the UFC, after their first encounter. Naturally, next to no one took him seriously.
Well, based on the comments below from McGregor, there have been some talks about the rematch happening. But, according to the UFC’s lightweight champ, that’s all over.
I am happy for Floyd and his recent announcement that he is out of these current fight negotiations. It is the reason I never seeked the rematch in the first place. I was happy for him in retirement. My game is a very unforgiving one. It is not like other games. I understand completely him staying retired. I will now carry on in my negotiations and see where it goes. Have a great retirement Junior. Now come here and give your old man a hug for old times sake. I'm proud of you son. Yours truly, Senior.
So, we’ll see what happens next. Chances are this isn’t the last on this just yet. McGregor’s last MMA bout took place in November, 2016, when he stopped Eddie Alvarez to become lightweight champ.
