There’s been plenty of talk lately about Cris “Cyborg” fighting Amanda Nunes, but it looks like that can’t happen, until the latter gets past Raquel Pennington.
Following “Cyborg’s” win over Yana Kunitskaya last weekend at UFC 222, Dana White said that an expected bout between Nunes and Pennington could be iced, as a means to book “Cyborg” – Nunes. But, on Thursday, the UFC announced that Nunes – Pennington will headline UFC 224.
The card will take place on May 12th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The bantamweight champ Nunes (15-4) is coming off a split decision win over Valentina Shevchenko, which was her second victory to date over the notable fighter.
Pennington (9-5) is riding a four fight winning streak, and is coming off a decision victory over former champ, Miesha Tate. That fight went down at UFC 205 back in 2016.
UFC 224 will also see Vitor Belfort take on fellow legend, Lyoto Machida, and Kelvin Gastelum battle “Jacare” Souza.
