Luke Rockhold has been driving hard for a third fight with Michael Bisping, and now the former middleweight champ’s raised the stakes for the proposed bout…big time.

Following Rockhold’s knockout loss to Yoel Romero last month, he’s made it clear he’d love to throw hands again, with his ole pal, Mr. Bisping. In fact, recently Rockhold said the UFC is looking to line up the fight as well.

Well, Bisping has expressed an interest in facing Rockhold again, but he’s also said the UFC has to make the right offer, in order to make it happen.Perhaps this is why Rockhold’s gone out on his own, and raised the stakes by saying this to FloCombat:

“I’ll put it on this: If Bisping beats me in this fight, I’ll be the motherf*cker who retires,” Rockhold said. “If Bisping beats me in this fight, this will be my retirement fight.”

“I’d love to shut his mouth. If you’re going to run your mouth that much, if you’re a man, back it up. We will soon see. He’s opened his mouth, he said a lot of things, and now he’s been backtracking a bit. Put your money where your mouth is. You want to f*cking run your mouth and say I was an easy fight, you say you can beat me up anytime. Any f*cking time…”

That’s quite the statement. Especially when you consider Rockhold’s only 33. Would Rockhold actually hang up the gloves if Bisping beat him again? Possibly. Or, at a minimum, we likely wouldn’t see him fight again for a while.

Clearly it’s going to come down Bisping, and whether he wants to fight Rockhold for a third time, or go out holding his 2016 KO win over his head (Rockhold won their 2014 bout via submission). It would be shocking if the UFC wasn’t on board for Bisping – Rockhold III, considering the profiles of both men, and the backstory to their rivalry.

Bisping’s last bout took place in November, when he was KO’d by Kelvin Gastelum. The British star has said his next bout will very likely be his last.
