In recent months, there’s been plenty of talk about Megan Anderson taking on Cris “Cyborg” in her Octagon debut, but it looks like the former Invicta FC champ will battle Holly Holm.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the featherweights will collide at UFC 225, which will take place in that city on June 9th.

Anderson (8-2) hasn’t fought since January, 2017, when she took out Charmaine Tweet to win Invicta’s 145 title. The Australian born fighter has won four straight fights.

Holm (11-4), meanwhile, faced “Cyborg” in December, and lost to the UFC champ by decision. Prior to that the former bantamweight champ KO’d Bethe Correia.

So, this is an interesting addition to UFC 225, and an important step for the UFC’s women’s featherweight division, which hasn’t featured many big bouts to date. If Anderson can win, then she’ll almost certainly be booked for a title fight. It’s also possible a win for Holm could open the door to a rematch with “Cyborg”.

The upcoming event will be headlined by a middleweight scrap between champ Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero.
