In the end, Justin Gaethje’s leg kicks didn’t prove to be Dustin Poirier’s undoing, but as the former WSOF champ said leading up to their bout, the technique played a key role in their UFC on FOX 29 scrap.
Gaethje punished Poirier’s legs with kicks from the opening horn on Saturday, and by the end of round three, it looked like he might chop down “The Diamond”. Shortly into round four, however, Poirier stunned Gaethje with a big left, and then poured on punches to score the stoppage win.
More recently, Poirier tweeted out the pics below, which vividly demonstrate how much punishment the lightweight’s legs took.
With the win, Poirier extended his undefeated streak to four.
