Carlos Condit is unquestionably one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster, and following his latest defeat, “The Natural Born Killer’s” posted a statement that will prompt mixed feelings with his fanbase.

Condit returned to the cage at UFC on FOX 29 on Saturday night and took on Alex Oliveira, who was stepping in for the injured Matt Brown. Some observers predicted that the well rounded Oliveira, who has a ton of momentum behind him these days, would be a tough fight for Condit, and that call proved to be right. Although Condit landed some shots of his own, “NBK” was cracked with an up kick in round two, and then submitted a few moments later by a guillotine choke. The defeat was Condit’s fourth in a row.

Well since the memorable bout, Condit has posted the following statement via Instagram (warning: explicit language):

Post choke out, where the fuck am I , WTF happened, feeling kinda warm and fuzzy , hope I didn’t just piss my shorts on live TV , thousand yard stare. I’ve posted plenty of pictures looking like a Badass. Triumphant and powerful… But here’s the flip side, crumpled and weak in defeat. Rough day at the office ?

Fuck it though, I had fun. I trained my ass off and I came to fight. This is what leaving it all out there looked like on Saturday. Much respect to my opponent and his team. Thank you for taking the fight on short notice. Congratulations and best of luck in the future.

I don’t know what’s next guys… I still love this game, and most days I still feel that fire, I absolutely love what it do, but maybe my time has passed. I don’t know the answer. this is what I know, this is my passion. I will never stop training, and If that leads me back to the the octagon, you know I’ll try to make it bloody for ya.

Right now I’m looking forward to summer shenanigans with my sons and to expanding @hundredhandscoffee

So, ya. You can see why I said above the comments might stir up mixed feelings with Condit boosters. On one hand, the statement typifies why so many folks love Condit’s mindset about fighting, and his approach to it. On the flip side, he questions whether his time has “passed”.

Now, if you follow Condit, then you know the 33 year-old has talked about retiring before. So, there’s certainly a decent chance we won’t see the New Mexico fighter in the cage again. After all, he’s lost four in a row, and his climb back into title contention is a long one at this point.

But, one would think because of Condit’s fanbase, and because he was one of the UFC’s top welterweights for years, the promotion won’t be cutting him. So, this could be a situation where the UFC comes calling on him for one more bout to see how it goes. If it’s the right offer, like say a fight with Brown when he’s ready to roll, then maybe Condit will sign on. There’s no doubt that a lot of folks would still love to see Brown – Condit, before the vets hang up the gloves.
