Dan Hooker turned heads and then some last night at UFC Fight Night 128, by taking out the rugged Jim Miller, and then by calling out Paul Felder, to his face…

Hooker faced Miller on the prelims, and ended up finishing the veteran fighter with a vicious knee to the head in the opening round. Following the jaw dropping win, Hooker remained very reserved and composed, and proceeded to call the lightweight a “legend”, during his post-fight interview. Then, when asked by Felder who he wants to fight next in the Octagon, Hooker asked the lightweight fighter and commentator if he’d be down to scrap. Felder said yes, and noted that Hooker showed a lot of guts doing so face-to-face.

Well, while speaking to the media after his impressive win, Hooker was of course, asked about his decision to call Felder out in the manner he did. he New Zealand fighter said this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I said that before this fight, ‘I wanted a top-15 guy,’” Hooker said. “I know that I deserve a top-15 guy, and that’s what’s next for me. And if I’ve got one standing there in front of me, I’m going to ask on the spot. I’m going to deal with it face to face instead of getting on Twitter and being a little Twitter thug and calling people out when I had him standing right there when I win.

“Any of the top-15 guys standing there I would have called them out, but I feel like a fight with Paul Felder is good, man. We’re both exciting guys; he’s top-15. He wants the fight too, so he sure knows what to do.”

How about that huh? It was definitely a memorable moment, and stylistically, Felder – Hooker has the makings of an outstanding fight.

Hooker is on quite a roll right now, as “The Hangman” has scored three straight wins, and during that run he’s finished Ross Pearson and Marc Diakiese. Felder, meanwhile, has also won three in a row, and is coming off a stoppage win over Charles Oliveira.
