Nate Diaz hasn’t fought since August, 2016, but it’s being reported the Stockton star and the UFC are in talks for his long awaited return.
Since Diaz lost his rematch with Conor McGregor via majority decision at UFC 202, there’s been endless talk about when and who he’ll fight again. For a long time, it was believed a rubber match with McGregor would materialize, but here we are in May, 2018, and that hasn’t happened.
Well, now ESPN’s Brett Okamoto is reporting that sources have informed him the UFC and Diaz have talked about him fighting on the promotion’s August 4th card in Los Angeles. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani has learned that Diaz has been offered bouts with several, top lightweights, and that he’s interested in facing one of them.
The report notes, however, that neither champion Khabib Nurmagomedov or McGregor have been tabled as opponents.
So, could this mean a fight with Eddie Alvarez? Or Dustin Poirier might happen? Or possible Kevin Lee?
