After years of speculation as to when and if the Ultimate Fighting Championship would hold a card in Russia, the promotion has finally announced it’s debut event.

On Wednesday the UFC announced that it will hold a Fight Night card at the Olimpiyskiy Arena in Moscow on Saturday, September 15.

“Russia is a key part of UFC’s international expansion strategy,” David Shaw, Senior Vice President, UFC International and Content was quoted saying in the official announcement. “The demand from our fans to bring a live event to Russia has been overwhelming, and with the vast potential this market holds for us, we knew this was the perfect time to bring UFC FIGHT NIGHT® to Moscow.”

No bouts for the card have been announced yet, but chances are, it will feature plenty of Russian and European fighters.

If you’re wondering about Khabib Nurmagomedov competing, the expectation is that the lightweight champ’s next bout will not take place at the upcoming card, since it’s not scheduled for pay-per-view.
