After making the top five on Forbe’s 2018 list of the highest paid athletes, Conor McGregor says plans were in motion for him to fight at UFC 224 last month.

UFC 224 took place on May 12th in Rio de Janeiro, and the card saw bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes defeat Raquel Pennington in the headliner. Recently McGregor posted the comments below regarding his placement on Forbe’s list, and while doing so, he mentioned having agreed to fight on May 12.

Ariel Helwani reported last month that the UFC was looking at having McGregor fight Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 224 for the interim welterweight title. That was before, however, the former lightweight champ’s well documented incident at the media day for UFC 223.

RDA, meanwhile, is now booked to fight Colby Covington for the interim title this Saturday at UFC 225.
