Nate MarquardtAfter a lackluster UFC 122 main event that saw Yushin Okami edge Nate Marquardt to earn a shot at the middleweight title, UFC President Dana White said Marquardt ‘choked’ in the headliner and suggested that his corner was to blame.

“He is a choker, he choked tonight,” White said at the post-UFC 122 press conference. “Marquardt is such a talented guy, but what I’m seeing is stuff from the Greg Jackson camp. When these guys fight, their corner is either telling them they’re ahead or they’re winning.

“Nate Marquardt sat here tonight and said that he thought he won the fight. Where the [expletive] is his corner? You go into the last round, you’re getting outstruck by a wrestler, and you think you won the fight?”

Despite being disappointed in the bout, White said Okami’s win over Marquardt would still earn him a shot at the winner of February’s UFC 126 headliner between current champ Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.
