Gerald HarrisIn a pair of surprising moves, the UFC has released Gerald Harris following his loss to newcomer Maiquel Falcao on the main card of UFC 123, but will give one more shot to Matt Brown despite suffering his third-straight loss at Saturday’s event.

Harris (17-3) didn’t immediately join the UFC’s middleweight roster after appearing on The Ultimate Fighter 7, but began his Octagon career earlier this year with wins over John Salter and Mario Miranda before earning his second “Knockout of the Night” with a highlight-reel slam of Dave Branch in July.

The loss to Falcao only dropped “Hurricane” to 3-1 in the UFC, but the bout was criticized for its lack of action (as well as its short first round) and Harris must now look for a new home, even if it’s just temporary before earning his way back to the UFC.

Brown (11-10) was widely expected to be let go by the promotion after losing to Brian Foster in a featured prelim at UFC 123, the third-straight submission loss for the TUF 7 welterweight following a three-fight win streak.
