After coming up short against rising welterweight Leon Edwards, Donald Cerrone is reportedly going to battle the heavy handed, Mike Perry next.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has confirmed with UFC President Dana White that the fight will be part of the UFC’s 25th anniversary card, in Denver on November 10th. Other outlets have also confirmed that the bout is a go.
The 35 year-old Cerrone is coming off a decision loss to Edwards last month, and the rugged vet is 1-4 in his last 5 bouts.
The 26 year-old Perry, meanwhile, ended a two fight losing skid earlier this month at UFC 226, by earning a split decision win over Paul Felder.
So, this fight has all the makings of being a memorable one. But, it’s already sparking some discussion about the fact Cerrone’s been booked to face another, dangerous welterweight, rather than returning to the lightweight division.
The timing of the bout is also interesting, as it comes not long after Perry has been spending time training at Jackson-Wink MMA, where Cerrone trains.
