If you need any further evidence of the disconnect between dedicated fight fans and a mainstream audience, well, the ratings for UFC on FOX 30 provide just that.

Within the MMA bubble, Saturday’s event appeared to have quite a bit of buzz tied to it, on account of Eddie Alvarez – Dustin Poirier II, Jose Aldo – Jeremy Stephens, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk – Tecia Torres. But, today it’s being reported that the early ratings for UFC on FOX 30 are in, and that the card delivered the lowest amount of viewers in the series history.

More from MMA Frenzy

MMA Weekly is reporting that Saturday’s event pulled just 1.46 million viewers, which is even lower than the worst watched FOX card, UFC on FOX 27. That January card, which featured “Jacare” Souza vs. Derek Brunson in the main event, drew 1.59 million viewers.

So, it will be interesting to see how this news is viewed by MMA observers etc. Sure, the card didn’t include fighters of superstar status, but it did feature former champs like Alvarez, Aldo and Jedrzejczyk, which you would have thought would generate some decent, mainstream interest.
