The UFC’s lightweight division is about to get even more interesting, as Tony Ferguson’s announced he’s been cleared to fight again, following a nasty knee injury he incurred earlier this year.
Ferguson was supposed to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight crown at UFC 223 this past April, but “El Cucuy” tore his LCL just days before the highly anticipated fight, and has been out since. Nurmagomedov ended up facing Al Iaquinta instead, and secured the 155 title via decision.
Well, recently the former interim champ posted the news below via Instagram:
So, this is welcome news. Now it remains to be seen when and who Ferguson faces. Nurmagomedov is scheduled to fight Conor McGregor on October 6th. So, will the UFC have Ferguson wait for the winner? Or fight in the interim?
Ferguson hasn’t fought since last October, when he submitted Kevin Lee to win the interim belt.
