Tyron Woodley let it be known that he didn’t care for the fact he was an underdog heading into UFC 228, and the welterweight champ muzzled his doubters tonight, by scoring a dominant win over Darren Till.

Till came out pressuring as many expected would be the case, while Woodley looked to counter with punches and a few takedown attempts. Although Till was able to keep the fight standing in round one, Woodley was the more active of the two.

In the second frame, however, Woodley floored Till with a booming right not long in. The champ proceeded to fire down elbows and punches from above, as Till attempted to recover. Just as it looked like Till might make it out of the round, Woodley sunk in a deep, D’Arce choke, which forced the contender to tap out. The defeat was the first of Till’s career to date.

After the impressive win, Woodley was asked who he wants to fight next, but the champion didn’t name anyone. Woodley noted that typically when he calls for a fight, it doesn’t work out, so instead, he’ll fight whomever the UFC puts in front of him.

Colby Covington won the interim welterweight title back in June, by defeating Rafael dos Anjos. But, when he was unable to fight Woodley tonight, due to pending nasal surgery, the UFC booked Till instead.

In the co-main event, Jessica Andrade came out winging huge hooks against fellow strawweight contender, Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Although the latter got tagged moments in, Kowalkiewicz managed to weather the initial storm, and returned fire.

A few moments later, however, Andrade sent Kowalkiewicz to the deck with a huge right hand, and that was that.
