Rory MacDonald’s bid to become a champ-champ tonight at Bellator 206, was violently prevented by middleweight champ, Gegard Mousasi.

In the opening round, Mousasi stayed busy with his jab and kicks, while MacDonald looked to counter with his big right. It was a competitive round, but Mousasi appeared to get the better of the exchanges.

In round two, MacDonald rolled in search of a takedown, but wound up on the bottom. Mousasi fired down shots from above, and then eventually passed into mount. That was the beginning of the end for MacDonald, as Mousasi punished the welterweight champ with big elbows and punches, and the fight was eventually stopped.

Here are the main card results for Bellator 206, which took place in San Jose.
