Months after being stabbed in a Bulgarian night club, it appears that Blagoi Ivanov will finally be released from Pirogov hospital in Sofia, Bulgaria. Sofia News Agency site reported the news earlier today.

In his first appearance since being stabbed, Ivanov stated that he is determined to return to MMA after he leaves the hospital.

Ivanov has only been able to speak for about a week but doctors believe he will reach a full recovery in six months to a year.

Ivanov and two of his friends were attacked by a group of 8 armed men after a disagreement at a bar in downtown Sofia. When police arrived Ivanov had a critical stab wound under his armpit.

The main suspect in the stabbing, a 23 year old known as Dampela, is being held under permanent detention.

Ivanov is perhaps best known as the man who dethroned Fedor Emelianenko in Combat SAMBO. Ivanov had been a semifinalist in the Bellator heavyweight tournament before having to exit due to injury. Ivanov last fought in December, where he beat Ricco Rodriguez via TKO.
