Strikeforce’s January card became a bit more crowded today as a trio of bouts were added to the event’s lineup headlined by a bout between middleweight contenders Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza and Lorenz Larkin. A bout between Tim Kennedy and Trevor Smith was added, along with a matchup between Roger Gracie and Anthony Smith. Strikeforce announced the moves earlier today.

Larkin was originally set to face Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold for a second time before Rockhold was injured both times. Larkin will now face the man many thought should have challenged for the title before him. “Jacaré” steamrolled Derek Brunson in his last bout at “Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman.”

In the other match-ups, Tim Kennedy will face middleweight prospect Trevor Miller and Roger Gracie will do battle with Anthony Smith. Kennedy was last in action against the aforementioned Rockhold, losing by decision. Gracie defeated Keith Jardine on the same card.

The January event will take place at the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The arena was the original site for “Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir” before the event was canceled prior to the November show. The card will be headlined by welterweight champion Nate Marquardt facing Tarec Saffiedine and Strikeforce Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier taking on Dion Staring.
