Reports of a UFC 156 bout between Urijah Faber and Vaughan Lee were ostensibly a bit premature, as the Brit recently sat down with Fighters Only and dismissed the bout, saying it was “just a rumor.”

“Yeah it’s a rumor, I haven’t heard anything from the UFC confirming it, so yeah it’s just a nice rumor that’s got me a lot of followers on Twitter. I heard about me fighting Faber over Twitter, people we’re like, ‘Well, you’re fighting Faber and all this,’ and I was like ‘Am I? Oh Cool.’ It’s just a rumor, we haven’t heard anything.”

Lee is coming off of a submission loss to Faber’s protege T.J. Dillashaw, succumbing to a first-round rear-naked choke from the TUF 14 finalist in July. Prior to that loss, the Brit took a “Submission of The Night” victory at UFC 144,  submitting MMA legend “Kid” Yamamoto with an armbar in Japan.

While the bantamweight bout is yet to materialize, UFC 156 takes place February 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event is headlined by a featherweight title clash between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar.
